Los Angeles, September 9, 2022 – The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation will sponsor the Big Dogs & Meow Meows adoption event happening at our six LA Animal Services Centers on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11. During the Big Dogs & Meow Meows weekend, the adoption fees for dogs weighing 40-lbs or more will be reduced by $50, which does not include the $20 license fee. Adoption fees for cats will be waived by the Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation and adoption fees for kittens will be waived through a generous grant from the ASPCA. “With our shelters filled with larger-sized dogs as well as cats and kittens looking for new homes, we are grateful for The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation’s sponsorship of this adoption event,” said Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. “Visit any of our six shelters this weekend to meet your new furry family member.”
“This is an excellent opportunity to save a life, get a great new companion, and help ensure there is lifesaving space for sick or abandoned animals who have nowhere else to go,” said Bill Crowe, Director of The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation.
Dogs and cats adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped, and adopters receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, canine companions adopted from LA Animal Services are also eligible for free dog training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA.
