LA Animal Services to Host COVID-19 Vaccination Day
Show Proof of Vaccination and Receive an Adoption Discount
Los Angeles, August 16, 2021 – In our effort to encourage more people to get vaccinated, LA Animal Services will be hosting a special in-person adoption event at our six Centers on Saturday, August 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., where you can receive a special discount to adopt a pet when you show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination.

For people not yet vaccinated but would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the Los Angeles Fire Department will be onsite that day at the following Animal Services Center locations to administer the COVID-19 vaccine:
Chesterfield Square / South LA
1850 W 60th Street
Los Angeles, CA 90047
East Valley
14409 Vanowen St
Van Nuys, CA 91405
North Central
3201 Lacy Street
Los Angeles, CA 90031
“As we see COVID-related cases back on the rise, I am pleased that we will be able to offer the vaccine at three of our Animal Services Center locations while also providing an incentive for animal lovers to adopt and bring home a new furry family member,” said Dana Brown, General Manager for LA Animal Services.

Interested adopters who are fully vaccinated and have received their two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and present proof of their COVID-19 vaccination (digital or card), will be eligible to adopt a dog or puppy at no cost, which does not include the $20 license fee, at any of our six LA Animal Services Centers.

Adopters who have received their first, or are getting their first dose of the vaccine on August 21, are eligible to receive 50 percent off their canine adoption fee (not including $20 license fee). The adoption fees for cats and kittens will be waived thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA.

New Weekend Operating Hours

Starting Saturday, August 21, all six LA Animal Services locations will begin operating without appointments on weekends, from 11am to 5pm. We will continue to operate by appointment during the week, Tuesdays through Fridays, for pet adoptions, fostering, and owner surrender, with Centers closed on Mondays. Sick or injured animals will be admitted without an appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 1-888-452-7381.
