Monday's storm caused incalculable damage in our region and affected many families in our communities. The Chicano Federation of San Diego is seeking support to bring relief to over 60 people, including a 10-day-old baby, in their affordable housing program who have lost most of their belongings and been displaced because of the floods. Their vehicles were damaged, children were missing school, and many were unable to go to work. The livelihood of these families is at risk. The Chicano Federation is currently working to provide temporary hotel accommodations, and their Resource Center team is assessing each family's needs to provide additional support. They need monetary donations that will help provide safe shelter, food, transportation, and essential supplies to those families.

The first 5 People who make a minimum of a $100 donation to the Chicano Federation will receive a pair of tickets for the San Diego Opera's Sunday, February 4th, matinee performance of Don Giovanni. Once you make your donation email proof of your donation to [email protected]. Feel free to make a larger donation. Again, only the first 5 will be eligible.

Fair For All Ticket Donation Program Accepting Applications

Inititative provides complimentary Fair admission to underserved community members

The San Diego County Fair is now accepting applications for its  Fair For All ticket donation program, which provides complimentary tickets to the Fair for qualifying nonprofit organizations.

The nonprofits’ work should align with the 22nd District Agricultural Association mission, which is to “connect our community through shared interests, diverse experiences, and service to one another in an inclusive, accessible, and safe place with an emphasis on entertainment, recreation, agriculture, and education.” The organizations subsequently distribute the tickets to underserved people who otherwise might not be able to attend the Fair, which is the largest annual event in San Diego County.

Organizations are encouraged to visit the Fair’s website and submit an online application requesting donated tickets before the final deadline of May 10, 2024. Ticket quantities vary based on each organization's needs and are limited to 200 for each organization in a year.

In 2023, more than 12,000 Fair admission tickets were donated to local nonprofits and community organizations. Ticket donations made through the Fair For All Program are for charitable purposes only, and the resale of tickets is strictly prohibited. All requests receive full consideration; however, submitting a request does not guarantee a donation of tickets.

Community outreach is a major part of the San Diego County Fair. The Fair recently also launched this year’s Street Banner Program applications and extended the deadline to Jan. 31. More information on that program can be found at this link
