Last week at LA,
(above) inspired us all, opening our eyes to new ways to think about teaching and learning. He presented us with a feature-length documentary on his
World Peace Game
, in which fourth graders collaborate on fifty interlocking real-world problems and achieve world peace in five hour-long sessions.
More importantly, he led the faculty through a series of generative professional development workshops, and he worked with the ninth-grade history classes on an activity called,
Sound Writing: Surviving the Unknown
. Both students and faculty experienced what the fourth graders in the documentary described as “mind-stretching, where your brain gets all swishy”.
