Happy June, Local Administrative Advisor communities!

Around the region, LAA communities have been working on exciting projects. A few notable examples include: personnel policy updates, new regional recycling ordinances, human resources forms, subdivision ordinance updates, impact fee analyses, and annual budget assistance as we approach the new fiscal year. If you would like to find an opportunity to meet and discuss any upcoming projects or concerns you would like assistance with, please reply to this email to schedule a meeting.

This iteration of the LAA Connection shares several grant opportunities and upcoming trainings to take advantage of.

Water and Waste Disposal Predevelopment Planning Grant (USDA RD):

USDA Rural Development is accepting applications to help eligible communities plan and develop possible USDA RD water and wastewater projects. This is a planning grant that can help your community determine what infrastructure improvements your entity requires. Click here to learn more about this ongoing funding opportunity.

Important Federal Grant Update:

On April 4th, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released the final Uniform Grants Guidance. This development aims to streamline the federal grants process and enhance the management of federal funds at the local and regional level.

What does it mean for you and your community? With the increase of the single audit threshold (raising from $750,000 to $1,000,000), it may change whether your community must undergo a single audit for the use of federal funds, and it also means increased flexibility when managing these federal dollars. These changes take effect on October 1, 2024.

Utah League of Cities and Towns (ULCT) LAA Webinars

In the most recent LAA webinar, Why HR Should Matter to Your Small Community, West Jordan's Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Jamie Davidson covered a variety of HR related topics, including compensation and benefits. If you are considering a wage study or change to employee compensation, you can compare your entity's compensation to other entities in the region by utilizing Transparent Utah's website. Watch the full virtual training on ULCT's YouTube page.

Certified Records Officer - Online Training Available

Each city or town in the State of Utah is required to have a Certified Records Officer, and each officer must certify yearly with the State Archives Division. Is your city or town up to date on this requirement? Online training and certification is available through the Utah Archives and Records Service website.

Do you have a topic you would like covered in a future newsletter? Email your suggestions to madison@wfrc.org to be included in the July edition of the LAA Connection.
