Lebanese Armed Forces
Chief General Joseph Aoun inspected the headquarters of the Airborne Regiment in Ghosta, where he toured across the centers and was briefed on the situation and training activities. He also met with the officers and soldiers and provided them with the necessary instructions. More


On May 24, Lebanon's Cabinet renewed Central Bank Gov. Riad Salameh’s term for another six years. Salameh assumed office in August 1993, a volatile year in Lebanon and at a time when the Lebanese pound depreciated in value against the U.S. dollar and other foreign currencies. The Central Bank Governor has been credited for stabilizing the pound, reducing inflation, beefing up Banque du Liban’s foreign currency reserves and regulating the banking sector. Full Article



Tourism Minister Avedis Guidanian deemed that "Lebanon's summer season will be promising." Speaking at the inauguration of the "Lebanon Travel Forum" at Beirut Hippodrome, Guidanian considered that "such forums and exhibitions help to support and improve tourism in Lebanon." Full Article

Lebanon confirms its commitment towards greater tax transparency: The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) today announced that representatives of the government of Lebanon signed the common reporting standard (CRS) multilateral competent authority agreement‎ (CRS MCAA), thereby re-confirming Lebanon’s commitment to implementing the automatic exchange of financial account information pursuant to the OECD/G20 CRS in time to commence exchanges in 2018. Lebanon is the 89th jurisdiction to sign the CRS MCAA. More details



President Trump wished all Muslims a “joyful Ramadan in a statement Friday, just hours before the start of the month-long Islamic holiday during which those observing fast from sunrise to sunset.Though such statements are commonplace among American presidents, Trump’s remarks took on a markedly different tone than did those of his predecessors. While the statement, like those of presidents past, noted the “acts of charity and meditation” that define the holy month, it went on to focus on a topic that has been at the forefront of Trump’s first trip overseas as president: terrorism. From the moment First Lady Melania Trump arrived to Saudi Arabia, it was clear she had given thought to her wardrobe, using the fashion diplomacy tactic that worked so well for her predecessor, Michelle Obama. Clearly, her strategy of packing a bag for each and every event on the nine-day trip, and the time she spent getting information from State  Department officials regarding protocol, paid off.
