Storm Response and Readiness

Fallen tree tangled in power lines with two workers working to clear the debris

Two powerful storms hit Los Angeles this month, and we were prepared! Additional crews and call center staff were on hand to assist customers and worked around the clock to restore service to all affected customers. As a reminder, we can be reached 24/7 at 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).

We recently enhanced the outage website at ladwp.com/outages. Customers may view an outage map, sign up for outage alerts or report an outage.

Electric Safety Reminder!

Please use caution around any downed or dangling wires or poles. Assume the line is live, and do not approach or touch it. Report any downed or dangling wires immediately by dialing 9-1-1!

In the event of a power outage, remain calm and be prepared:

  • Always keep a flashlight and extra batteries nearby; never use candles.
  • Switch off all lights except for one so you’ll know when your power returns.
  • Keep a fully charged cell phone on hand.

Recent Rains Boost L.A.’s Local Supply

From the February storms, we captured more than 7 billion gallons of stormwater in partnership with L.A. County. In the Eastern Sierra where much of our water comes from, the snowpack is estimated at more than 54% of the typical amount for this time of year. Learn more about where L.A.’s water comes from and the important role that stormwater capture plays in the development of our local water supplies.
