Meet Our New Commissioner

Rudy Ortega Jr., elected leader of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians, has been confirmed by the L.A. City Council as the newest member of the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners. As the second commissioner of Native American ancestry to ever serve on the Board, he brings extensive leadership and advocacy experience with local and state governments, as well as his work with historical and Native American commissions. LADWP welcomes his perspective in strengthening relationships with all the communities served, including the various tribes, across Los Angeles and the Eastern Sierra. 

2025-26 Water Infrastructure Plan Now Available

LADWP recently published the annual 2025-26 Water Infrastructure Plan, which documents infrastructure accomplishments from Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25 and goals for FY 2025-26. Through the Department’s critical investments in pipes, valves, dams, tanks, reservoirs, and other water infrastructure, LADWP is fortifying water system resiliency while ensuring the delivery of high-quality water to Los Angeles’ residents and businesses.

Celebrating Women's History Month and the

Mulholland Dam Anniversary

Join LADWP on Saturday, March 7 from 7:30 a.m. - 10 a.m., for a family-friendly, scenic walk around the Hollywood Reservoir to celebrate Women’s History Month and the Mulholland Dam Anniversary. The event includes a self‑paced 3.5‑mile walk, educational booths, historical displays, hydration stations, and photo opportunities. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and sun protection. Service dogs are welcome; pets not allowed.

Free Water-Saving Landscape Refresh

LADWP’s Landscape Efficiency Assistance Program (LEAP) offers eligible single-family residential customers a free, water-saving front yard lawn refresh that will not only beautify spaces but may also help lower water bills. Eligible customers can select from pre-approved designs and LADWP will handle all the work – from removing thirsty lawns to installing efficient irrigation and planting beautiful California Friendly® landscaping. 

Receive Power Outage Alerts

Sign up for free email or text alerts to stay informed about power outages. These alerts help customers prepare and stay safe during unexpected service interruptions. Alerts are available for up to three communities in English and Spanish. Stay connected and informed!

LADWP participated in the 41st annual Los Angeles Official MLK Day Parade, honoring Dr. King’s legacy and reaffirming our commitment to building a better, stronger and more equitable Los Angeles. Employees with their families and friends, joined the celebration and marched alongside LADWP’s professional chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers sharing LADWP’s recruitment message and celebrating LADWP's diverse workforce of nearly 12,000 employees. 

Kicking Off Lunar New Year

LADWP celebrated the start of Lunar New Year and 2026 as the Year of the Horse by joining the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs’ Block Party. The event was filled with energy and community spirit, featuring delicious bites from food trucks, local vendors, resource fair, kids’ crafts, and dragon dances. LADWP was proud to be part of this annual community event, serving the drinking water from our hydration station and sharing information on our programs and services.
