Here to Help

Our hearts are with all our customers whose lives have been devastated by the wind-driven wildfires. We are here and available to support you. We encourage any customer whose home or business has been damaged or destroyed as a result of the fires to call 1-800-DIAL-DWP. Our customer service representatives are ready to help with any questions or concerns you may have on your water and power services.

During and immediately following the early January windstorm, LADWP crews worked tirelessly to restore power to more than 360,000 impacted customers. Due to the Palisades fire that broke out on January 7, LADWP continues to work with Unified Command to support recovery efforts and restore power as quickly and safely as possible to homes in the fire-impacted areas. Additionally, LADWP continues to work closely with the State Water Resources Control Board – Division of Drinking Water to restore high-quality drinking water to customers in the Palisades and nearby areas impacted by a Do Not Drink Notice.

LADWP will continue to restore services to affected customers and support the Pacific Palisades community throughout the rebuilding process.

Correcting Misinformation About LADWP's Water System

This disaster was an unprecedented hurricane wind-driven wildfire that devasted an urban area. Our crews and our system were prepared but overwhelmed by the massive demand as firefighting continued.

It is our responsibility to correct misinformation to assure our customers that our focus has been and will always be to provide safe and reliable water and power to residents of Los Angeles in our service area. Any assertion that fire hydrants in the Pacific Palisades were broken before the Palisades fire is misleading and false. No power was lost to LADWP pump stations during the fire, and water supply remained strong to the area.

Water pressure was lost due to extreme water demand to fight the wildfire without aerial support due to the high winds.

As we confront the challenges of climate change and work toward climate resilience, we support updating codes and requirements regarding the use of city water systems in extreme wildfires. LADWP is assessing water resiliency to strengthen our response to climate impacts.

Power Restoration Continues

LADWP crews, joined by mutual assistance partners from PG&E and the Navajo Nation, continue working in the Pacific Palisades and surrounding areas, to inspect overhead and underground power lines, cut down damaged wires, and repair broken power poles.

Performing the inspections and repairs enables crews to quickly and safely restore power to affected customers once Palisades Fire Unified Command lifts fire holds that are in place on certain power lines, for safety purposes.
