LADWP joins with our employees and Angelenos to celebrate Pride Month! June 5 marked a historic day for the Department as the Progress Flag was raised in front of the John Ferraro Building for the first time. And on June 9, members of LADWP’s PRIDE employee resource group and fellow allies celebrated with other community members as they marched in the L.A. Pride Parade. Visit Our New Pollinator Garden at Hollywood Reservoir


On June 1, we unveiled the new Hollywood Reservoir Pollinator Garden, located on the west side of the Hollywood Reservoir.


Visitors can now enjoy the sight of butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators visiting California friendly plants alongside views of idyllic Hollywood Reservoir and the iconic Hollywood Sign atop green mountains.

The Pollinator Garden, affectionately referred to as "Cindy's Garden," was created in partnership with the Electric Power Research Institute and other partners.

Commemorating Juneteenth 


LADWP honors this day of remembrance and celebration of resilience and freedom, which was named an official City of Los Angeles holiday in 2022 by the Mayor and City Council.


Juneteenth commemorates the true end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865, when Union troops informed slaves in Galveston, Texas of their emancipation.

LADWP Distributes $700 Million in Financial Assistance


Since 2021, LADWP has distributed $700 million to help clear the past due utility bills of customers who fell behind on their water, power, and sewer bills during the pandemic.


Approximately $253 million of these funds came from the 2021 Federal American Rescue Plan Act. These funds were disbursed by the State Water Resources Control Board and were automatically applied to the outstanding bills of more than 204,500 customers who had been unable to pay for water and sewer services from March 2020 – December 2022.

What to Bring to Enroll for Lifeline

  • Proof of age (if enrolling as senior): Copy of driver’s license, ID card, or other proof of age
  • Proof of disability (if qualifying as disabled): Recent certification (last 2 years) signed by a licensed physician
  • Proof of income: Form 540, SS benefit, SSI benefit, General Relief, CalWORKS/AFDC or notarized letter stating income
  • LADWP bill + gas and telephone bills (if you have them)

Get Rebates Up to $4,000 on the Purchase of Used Electric Vehicles


A major barrier to electric vehicle adoption is the price of an EV but we are helping customers by offering rebates on the purchase of qualifying used electric and hybrid vehicles.


LADWP customers can get a rebate of $1,500 on the purchase of a qualifying used EV.

LADWP Awarded Federal Funding for Local Water Supply Projects


The federal Bureau of Reclamation awarded LADWP $30 million for the Los Angeles Groundwater Replenishment Project which is one

of multiple projects expected to dramatically reduce the City’s dependence on purchased, imported water.


Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) – will recycle 100 percent of available wastewater from LASAN’s Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant.


This will produce nearly seven billion gallons annually of purified recycled water for replenishment of the San Fernando Groundwater Basin – enough drinking water for more than 250,000 residents in the City of Los Angeles annually.

LADWP Board Approves FY 2024-2025 Budget

On May 14, the Board of Water and Power Commissioners approved LADWP’s budget of $8.646 billion for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 – an increase of approximately 2.5% over the previous year’s budget.

We're the only department in the City of Los Angeles with a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Neighborhood Councils committing to regular and ongoing communication about our programs and policies.


The DWP-NC MOU Oversight and Advocacy Committees meet every first Saturday of the month at 8:30 a.m. Meetings are broadcast via webcast. Join us!
