L.A.'s Clean Energy Future ‘Powered by Equity’

group of people standing together to take a picture celebrating announcement of LA100 equity strategies report

Together with our partners, we recently announced our ‘Powered by Equity’ initiative which aims to ensure that all Angelenos benefit from the City’s commitment to achieving a carbon-free energy future. The centerpiece of the initiative is providing city-owned battery electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in underserved communities where EV charging capacity currently lags. To support the transition to EVs for Angelenos, we are also increasing our Used EV Rebate from $2,500 to $4,000 for customers participating in the Lifeline or EZ-SAVE discount rate programs.

In addition to building EV charging stations, we plan to expand and add equity components to a variety of clean energy programs, including solar, energy efficiency, job creation and training, utility upgrades to support home EV charger installations, point-of-sale rebates for home cooling, and extending our plans for resiliency hubs among other programs.

LADWP Shines at Society of Women Engineers (SWE) National Conference

We recently participated in the Society of Women Engineers National Conference, billed as the world’s largest conference for women in engineering and technology at the L.A. Convention Center. With the goal of increasing the number of women engineers in our workforce, our employees gave uplifting speeches, engaged with hundreds of participants, conducted recruitment interviews, and hired several engineers on the spot!

We believe in inspiring more women to reach their goals in STEM as we work towards a waterwise and renewable energy future.
