To celebrate National S.T.E.A.M. Day, LADWP hosted a student art exhibit featuring winners of the 2024-2025 Los Angeles Times in Education Student Poster Contest. Through this annual contest sponsored by LADWP, 4th-12th graders from across Los Angeles and the Eastern Sierra are invited to showcase their artistic talents while highlighting and calling to action conservation and sustainability practices to help combat climate change.

Rebates for Commercial Turf Replacement Have Doubled Ahead of 2027 Watering Goal

Plants trees and a butterfly flying by with a bridge like building and parked cars in the background.

LADWP has increased turf replacement rebates for commercial, multi-family (5+ units), industrial, institutional, and public agency customers to $9–$10 per square foot. That’s an 80–100% boost! With Assembly Bill 1572 phasing out the use of potable water for nonfunctional turf in 2027, businesses and agencies with decorative grass can act now by switching to sustainable landscaping. Pre-approval is required before beginning any project.

Enhancing Grid Resiliency and Reliability for our Communities

LADWP received approval to expand its Demand Response portfolio and create new programs that aim to increase the current performance-based capacity by more than 400% from 80 MW to 340 MW. Complementing this investment in demand response, the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners also approved the Scattergood Generating Station Units 1 and 2 Green Hydrogen-Ready Modernization Project. Together, these initiatives mark a significant step forward in the transition to 100% clean energy while ensuring grid reliability and bill affordability for our customers.
