Please Recreate Responsibly Around Waterways!

Due to the epic wet winter and record-breaking snowpack, high water flows are expected in various locations throughout Inyo County this spring and summer. LADWP has placed signs advising the public of high flows in the Owens River. We recommend enjoying calmer waterways at locations such as the city of Bishop’ swimming pool, Diaz Lake, Klondike Lake, and Mill Pond.

Safety tips for you and your family

Read and follow warning signs – these signs are there for your safety!
Keep a safe distance from rivers and stream banks - extreme erosion can compromise rivers and stream banks.
Stay on established trails or developed areas.
Please keep children close and dogs leashed while near moving water.
Avoid slippery rocks and logs.
Never enter waterways that are upstream from a waterfall.
Stay up to date on local conditions.

LADWP Aqueduct Operations

LADWP Crew in Action: Storm Repair

Due to the severe storms last month, LADWP’s Aqueduct Division activated its Water Operations Emergency Response Plan on March 10. A crew of about 75 LADWP personnel worked around the clock making repairs to the seven damaged panels in a lined, uncovered concrete section of the Los Angeles Aqueduct (LAA) north of the Haiwee Complex, two miles south of the town of Olancha.

Runoff & Spreading Reports

LADWP is working closely with Inyo County and other agency partners for this year’s high runoff season requiring extra management. Crowley Lake Trout Opener

As everyone works to manage this year's snowpack and runoff, please continue to check the Crowley Lake Fish Camp website for the latest information on the opener.

LADWP quagga mussel boat inspections will be held at Crowley Lake this year. Dates and times will be announced based on current weather conditions.

Owens Valley School District High School Visits Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA was the destination for Owens Valley School District (OVSD) high school's spring trip. The first two stops on their five-day trip were to LADWP's Power Plant 1 facility and the La Kretz Innovation Campus.

The trip was made possible through the LADWP Adopt A School program, where employees collaborate with local Owens Valley school districts to provide presentations on STEM topics and career development opportunities.
