Sunset Corridor Work Resumes

Construction on the Sunset Boulevard Distribution System Corridor, referred to as the Backbone, resumed this month. Crews are installing the underground conduit system that will later carry new 34.5kV and 12kV power lines for Distribution Station 29 (DS‑29). This critical infrastructure improvement will increase capacity, strengthen redundancy, and prepare for future neighborhood undergrounding.

Work hours are Monday - Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

💧Santa Ynez Reservoir Floating Cover Replacement Project Update

LADWP is replacing the floating cover on the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which stores drinking water from the Westgate Trunk Line and must remain covered to meet drinking water regulations. The 15-year-old cover, which spans approximately 10 acres, has sustained damage over its service life and remains vulnerable to further deterioration.

Project Timeline

  • March 2026: Reservoir was drained
  • April 2026: Cover removal
  • May 2026: New cover construction starts
  • October - December 2026: Construction finishes, and the reservoir is filled, tested and returned to service
