Faculty, Staff, Parents & Students (age 16 or older) are invited to donate blood. Anyone under 18 needs a signed parent permission slip (also available in the Head of School's Office). Bring a friend and photo ID with you and actually SAVE A LIFE!

To help streamline the donation process, donors are encouraged to complete the online health history questionnaire before coming to the drive. The health history must be completed the same day as the donation; it cannot be completed a day or two ahead of time.

Our second PA Lunch and Learn is one you won't want to miss!

Please join us for a delicious lunch as Laguna's new App, The Nest, is unveiled. We will also be hearing from TEDxLagunaBlancaSchool student coordinators about the second annual conference, "Uncharted," that will take place on January 29, 2019.

At this meeting you will also hear from FCD Prevention Works about their presence at the Hope Ranch campus and their program around drugs and alcohol, followed by our school counselor, Kim Valentine.

Head of School Rob Hereford will also join us to share school updates.

All parents are invited and encouraged to attend!
As part of Laguna's wellness education program and ongoing commitment to prevention and wellness, we have invited Prevention Specialists of Freedom from Chemical Dependency Educational Services to join our community November 5 8 . FCD is a non-profit organization that provides substance abuse prevention education for schools.

Parents will have the opportunity to attend Middle and Upper School parent workshops presented by the FCD Prevention Specialists to offer support and guidance in helping your children enjoy a drug-free adolescence. These sessions will be held in the Library:

There will also be two opportunities for parents to drop-in for one-on-one conversations with FCD Prevention Specialists. Specialists will be located in both the Braun House Conference Room AND the office facing the MS parking lot (see map below) at the following times.

LAGUNA ALUMNA PHOEBE MADSEN '16 NAMED SCIAC ATHLETE OF THE YEAR!
On Monday, 10/29, the 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Volleyball teams were announced following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches. Phoebe Madsen '16, a junior setter for Claremont-Mudds-Scripps, was named SCIAC Volleyball Athlete of the Year.

Sophia Lozada joins the Laguna community as the Assistant to the Business Office.

She holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College in International Relations and is currently working towards her M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. During her undergraduate studies, she lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina for six months, where she studied social movements and human rights.
 
Before coming to Laguna Blanca, Sophia worked as a Firm Administrator at a local law firm. She has extensive experience in legal assistance, office management, and human resources. As Assistant to the Business Office, she aims to leverage her ability to examine issues from multiple standpoints to provide a positive contribution to the school.
 
Her favorite hobbies include running on the beach, hiking in the Santa Barbara foothills, and traveling whenever she gets the chance.
