COASTAL CLEANUP DAY SUCCESS!
Last Saturday, Laguna Blanca participated for its 8th year in the annual CA Coastal Cleanup Day. 83 participants picked up 77 pounds of trash, a ~500 pound telephone pole, and 20 pounds of recycling from Hammonds/Miramar Beach.

About 70 participants were on the beach representing Laguna Blanca School, including students from all three divisions, faculty, administration, and a board member. Thanks to all of you, the coast is cleaner!

Thank you to the five sixth graders who helped to run the table: Mason Berg, Tracey Cao, Jonah Jeter, Natalie Murray, and Elyse Weaver.

A special thank you to faculty members Allison Armstrong and Melissa Abrams for overseeing the table on Saturday!
LAGUNA STUDENTS HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR LOCAL TEEN ARTS & MUSIC PROGRAMS
Through the Jewish Federation’s Teen Comedy Program, Laguna Blanca’s Jack Stein ’19 and Sully Israel ’19 performed at Soho Music Club last Saturday night to benefit Feed the Funk . Jack performed a stand-up comedy routine and then sang a comedic duet with Sully accompanying him on the piano. They performed to a full-house, raising funds for Feed the Funk’s annual outreach event that highlights the importance of educational development through music and performance based art. Proceeds went toward supporting local teen mentorship arts and music programs.

Bravo to Jack and Sully!

"YOU Make Laguna" is the theme of the 2017-18 Laguna Fund and a reminder of our collective strength as a community. The Laguna Fund is the school’s philanthropic foundation and supports its operating expenses, including technology enhancements, student programs, performing and visual arts, faculty salaries, professional development, and campus improvements.

We are delighted to announce that parents Julia Rodgers and Brandi Fraser will serve as chairs of this annual giving program, which aims to raise funds over $500,000 for our school each year. Together, they will work with a team of Class Captains to ensure that each family understands the value of their support and can make a meaningful contribution to the Fund.

Be on the lookout for your invitation to support the 2017-18 Laguna Fund. It will arrive in the mail next week along with a note from your Class Captain.

To ensure all families have an opportunity to join The Parliament of Owls and have their family or business name listed on our commemorative Spirit of Laguna Jogathon & Festival t-shirt, please make your Laguna Fund pledge or gift before October 10.

What is the Spirit of Laguna Jogathon and Festival?
Organized by the Laguna Blanca Parents’ Auxiliary, the event will be held on Friday, October 20. It is the culmination of Spirit Week and kicks off the annual Laguna Fund.
BE RECOGNIZED ON THE 2017 COMMEMORATIVE T-SHIRT
  • Make your leadership pledge/gift to the Laguna Fund at any one of the Parliament of Owls levels ($2,500+).
  • Simply go online to make your leadership gift/pledge no later than October 10.
