GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT
|
|
Greetings Langston Members, Sponsors, and Supporters
I am truly humbled and honored to serve
as the 2020 President of the John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles. For those of you who may not know me, I am Nyanza Shaw, an entertainment and business transactional attorney practicing since 1997. For the past 16 years, I have managed my own practice here in Los Angeles. I grew up and attended college and law school in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am dedicated to service in my profession and community.
A special thank you
to those who have dedicated much time and effort to keeping us going and remaining strong. The Past Presidents and Board of Directors have done an amazing job of continuing our mission statement and I look forward to building upon the legacy and accomplishments of the leaders that have come before me.
It is the members and our supporters
that make this organization what it is today. It takes all of us working together to build and grow Langston. We need your support through volunteering your talents on one of our numerous committees, attending events and activities, and donating to support our scholarship fund and programming. The growth of our organization can only be fulfilled by full and active member participation.

Volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters LA
You Can Positively Impact A Child’s Life!
|
Do you remember someone in your life who taught you to believe in yourself, who inspired you to work hard in school and in life? Someone who celebrated your success and guided you through your hard times? That someone was your mentor, and that is the power of a mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles is one of the largest youth mentoring organizations in Southern California, serving children ages 6-21 in seven, unique, one-to-one mentoring programs. Currently, there are 253 children on the BBBSLA waitlist waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister – more than 75% of those children are male.
|
BBBSLA is always looking for committed and passionate individuals to be mentors to our youth! If you’re interested in learning more or applying to be a Big Brother or Big Sister, visit our website at
bbbsla.org/volunteer
or call (213) 213-2400.
