The Fall 2016 APDesign Magazine will feature alumni from each program. Please send Stephanie your suggestions by this Thursday, July 14, for graduates from approximately 5 - 8 years ago, 10 - 15 years ago and 20+ years ago to be featured for our degrees. Please identify alumni who have remained engaged in one or more ways with our college through philanthropically, advocacy and/or engagement in classes.

Assistant Professor Brent Chamberlain presented  Using Landscape Visualization to Inform Streetscape Design co-authored with Jessica Canfield and Rebecca Liu at the DLA 2016 Istanbul Conference on June 3.  Click here    to view the extended conference program.

Emma Rearick, MRCP student, received a 2016 Dwight David Eisenhower Graduate Fellowship. The $31,900 fellowship provides tuition, a stipend and travel support for the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Emma's application was supported by her Major Professor, Assistant Professor Greg Newmark.

Associate Professor Jon Hunt has published a book, Poetics of the Konza Prairie, documenting the work he created as a Mary K. Jarvis Scholar of Distinction. You may review the department copy in the office and the book will be cataloged in Weigel Library. 

The Beach Museum of Art is sponsoring a unique art-science conversation on the prairie on July 15, 2016! K-State rangeland researcher Carol Blocksome received a grant from the Office of the Provost to put together a day of exploration for artists and scientists. The program will be held at the Konza Prairie barn, and keynote speaker Matthew Coolidge from the Culver City-based Center for Land Use Interpretation ( will share his experiences in the fertile zone between innovative science and engaged art practice. The Kansas APA has announced its call for sessions, presentations, and planning commissioner training proposals for the 2016 Kansas Planning Conference, which will be Oct 5-7 at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence, KS.  All proposals must be receive by June 30, 2016 at midnight, and all proposals must be submitted online. Van Alen Institute and AECOM have launched Fair Share, a student competition inviting multidisciplinary teams from around the world to apply the tools and principles of the "sharing economy" to tackle pressing urban challenges. The Transportation Research Board Committee on Landscape and Environmental Design (AFB40) is a group of Landscape Architects and other professionals working in the transportation sector. The Committee is concerned with design parameters that relate to protecting, conserving, restoring, and enhancing safe, sustainable, and livable transportation systems, facilities, and their associated environments. Click here for more information.
