WACA looks forward to hosting the third Best Practices Session of the year TODAY, April 29, at 3:00 PM ET. We will focus on internal practices for diversity, inclusion, and equity for World Affairs Councils.
This discussion will start with introductory remarks by Derrick Olsen, President of WorldOregon & WACA National Board Member, and include a short conversation on understanding the landscape and language of DEI with Andrea Vanessa Castillo, WorldOregon Program and Administrative Coordinator, and Cinthia Manuel, CEO of Autentica Consulting.
This will be followed by a Councils discussion with Amanda Jolly, Vice President of Programs & Communications at WAC Connecticut, and Kathryn Eissfeldt, President of Peoria Area World Affairs Councils. Joyce Davis, Executive Director & CEO of WAC of Harrisburg, will moderate.
Immediately following this session, we invite you to join us for small group discussions on these best practices. Choose your group - Beginner, Intermediate, and Troubleshooting - when you register. (If you can, hold an extra 30 minutes for extended informal discussion from 4:00 - 4:30 PM ET.)
Make sure also to mark your calendars for the next WACA Best Practices Session on Thursday, May 13, at 3:00 PM ET. The topic is "Diversity in Programming and Young Professionals" in response to widespread Council interest in reaching younger, more diverse audiences.
