School is back in session, so let's go over some waste sorting basics together!

Recycle items such as:

• Paper
• Paper lunch bags
• Plastic bottles
• Aluminum cans

Place non-recyclable items in the trash, such as:

• Juice or milk cartons
• Candy wrappers
• Plastic bags
• Pens and pencils

Remember, recyclables going into your cart should be clean, empty, and dry!

To reduce waste, opt for reusable items such as a refillable water bottle, reusable lunch box, and reusable utensils.

Did you know? Pre-lining your green cart helps keep it clean, minimizing odors and eliminating the need to use plastic bags, which are not compostable or recyclable.

To help absorb liquids, you can line your green cart with:

• Newspaper or used paper
• Cardboard
• Or yard trimmings!

You do not need to bag your food scraps or yard trimmings. However, if you would like to, paper bags are strongly recommended, as they can be processed along with organic material. Clear plastic bags may be used if they are completely transparent, although they will not be recycled or composted.

Please do not use the green bags labeled 'compostable' or 'biodegradable', as the facilities do not accept them.

Refuse and recycling will be collected as scheduled.

🧹💨Street Sweeping

There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Monday, September 1st. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, September 2nd.

🚗 Parking Enforcement

Read your parking meter: Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on September 1st, unless the meter states “Exempt on Holidays.” The days and hours of enforcement are displayed on the meters.

📞The Customer Call Center will be closed on Monday, September 1st.

*CCLB accepts e-waste ONLY and does NOT accept used oil, tires, or other household hazardous waste.

The correct answer is: C, plastic juice bottle!

Plastic juice bottles are recyclable in your blue or purple cart.

On the other hand, juice boxes and cartons are not recyclable, as they are made with mixed materials that cannot be separated in the facility.
