Happy New Year! We had a lot of activity during the last six months of 2022 and things will not be slowing down as we move into 2023. January is going to be extremely busy as we transition from the construction phase to the move-in phase.

ZSpace is on Campus!

Our six ZSpace computers have arrived and are currently being serviced by our LCCC IT techs to ensure that they meet all campus security requirements. Once approved, these computers will allow instructors to offer a new layer to their training through an AR/VR experience. We are hoping that this technology can be utilized by multiple programs across campus.

AMMC Construction Winding Down

Most of the major construction has been completed inside the building (external siding will be on-going for a bit longer) and we are looking forward to moving in. Although the delivery date for our manual and CNC machines is still a couple of weeks out, our 3D printers have arrived and will be installed during the week of 9 Jan.

Here are the crates containing our new metal printer after being freshly delivered to the AMMC.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Concept Forge entry. The picture on the left is from September and the one on the right is from this month. Prior to construction, this location housed two individual classrooms for our LCCC Auto Body Repair program. During construction, the separating wall has been removed and a new entrepreneurial space has been created for our students, industry partners and community members.

Upcoming Events

Although we are still a few months away from opening the AMMC, we have posted a couple of jobs on the LCCC Human Resources Job Listings page looking for a part-time administrative assistant and part-time adjunct instructor. These positions will be instrumental as we prepare to offer training.

LCCC Campus Closure LCCC will be closed 16 January for Equality Day.

AMMC Grand Opening Barring unforeseen circumstances, we are planning on holding our grand-opening activities on April 14th. Although we should be taking possession of the facility in January, we wanted to leave plenty of calendar space to put the finishing touches on the AMMC while getting our staff in-place. This also allows us time to run the equipment and ensure that everything is ready for training.
