ZSpace Travels

On 28 February, we took two AMMC ZSpace computers and met with students from the South High School Triad. The event was hosted at Johnson Junior High and we introduced over 200 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to Augmented Reality (AR) and how AR can be used in a manufacturing classroom through the use of ZSpace.

Haas Equipment Leveling

A technician from MMT Productivity (our Haas equipment vendor), spent almost two weeks in the AMMC leveling and commissioning 14 pieces of CNC equipment. By getting these pieces operational, we have taken one more step towards offering our first training course starting on 22 May!

Equipment Spotlight

The Mitsubishi 1200S EDM Machine

Do you have the need to cut very precise pieces of metal for a project that you are working on? Do you have the need for that precise cut to be in material up to eight inches thick? Then learning how to utilize Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) at LCCC might be the answer. EDM utilizes brass wire that measures in at .008" to vaporize the metal as electric pulses create those very precise cuts. The work takes place in an area that is submerged in water. Once the material is secured on the working surface and the cutting program is loaded, water will cover the work area and act as coolant for the operation while washing away the metal residue. The EDM is just one of multiple pieces of CNC equipment that students can be trained on in the AMMC.   Please click this link to see the EDM in action. 

Upcoming Events

AMMC Grand Opening

We will be holding a grand opening of the AMMC and would like to invite the community to attend. If you find yourself with some free time on 14 April and would like to see what the center has to offer, come by LCCC and see what we are all about!

CNC Operator Bootcamp Our first training class has been scheduled! A CNC Operator boot-camp will start on 22 May and wrap-up on 20 Jul. The training will prepare students for gainful employment with industry in the area while providing new employees to the local workforce. LCCC Campus Closure

LCCC will be closed 17 March for Spring Break.
