LCCC Manufacturing Day
Commissioner Malm addressing the audience during Manufacturing Day 2022.
Mayor Collins commenting on Manufacturing Day 2022.
Through Presidential proclamation in 2014, President Obama declared that the first Friday in October shall be Manufacturing Day. The first Manufacturing Day saw over 1,600 American manufacturers open their doors for tours and informational sessions to help spread the word about the industry. Fast forward to 2022 where now over 14,000 manufacturers across America participate in celebrations around the country! LCCC hosted members of industry, state/local government officials and members of local communities to an event on October 7th to celebrate with Commissioner Malm and Mayor Collins signing local proclamations. We had over 70 in attendance and the AMMC would like to thank everyone who put in so much work to make the day a success!

We are looking forward to Manufacturing Day 2023!
National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship
On October 3rd, Minden Fox, LCCC Marketing Instructor, participated in the "Pitch for the Trades" competition as part of the 2022 National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) Conference in Boston. Minden had three minutes to pitch an idea that would demonstrate greatest economic impact on the local level. She focused her presentation on how new computers and applications could be a beneficial part of our manufacturing program as well as many other programs across the LCCC campuses. Prior to the competition, she had identified a need of $46,000 to meet the cost of six computers and supporting equipment. However, the competition panel awarded LCCC with a prize of $50,000 for the project. Minden awarded the "check" to LCCC President, Dr. Joe Schaffer and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Kari Brown-Herbst during the Manufacturing Day event.

This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation.

Thanks to the great work of the LCCC Web Content Specialist, Laura Patridge, the AMMC website is now up and operating! We will be adding new material to the site as we move forward with sections identified for students, employers as well as archives of the monthly newsletter.
AMMC Construction Continues to Move Forward
Our contractors continue to make good headway on the AMMC site remodel. New LED lights have been installed and painting is underway in the CNC area. The studs, power and data for the second classroom, instructor office and Metrology Lab have been installed and sheetrock will be going up soon. We are currently on-track for all major equipment to be installed by mid-December.
Upcoming Events
LCCC Campus Closure
All LCCC Campuses will be closed November 23-25 for Thanksgiving Break and Dec 23 - Jan 2 for Christmas Break.
AMMC Grand Opening
Barring unforeseen circumstances, we are planning on holding our grand-opening activities on April 14th. Although we should be taking possession of the facility in January, we wanted to leave plenty of calendar space to put the finishing touches on the AMMC while getting our staff in-place. This also allows us time to run the equipment and ensure that everything is ready for training. More to follow!
