Message from the City Manager, Daniel Jordan

Greetings City of La Cañada Flintridge residents,

Happy summer! We are excited to kick off this new season with a variety of City events and important updates for our residents.

Our City just wrapped up its 51st annual Memorial Day/Fiesta Days weekend, filled with fun celebrations and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country. We are also proud to announce our new historical gifts from the La Cañada Unified School District and Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation that can be enjoyed for generations to come.

We'd like to take this edition of the Bulletin to remind you of important wildfire, bear and home safety tips to ensure you are prepared for any type of emergency that may result from the heat and vacations that come with the summer.

As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via phone, email or by visiting City Hall.

With Deep Gratitude,

Daniel Jordan, Ph.D.

We'd like to give a special thanks to the the LCF Chamber of Commerce, Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, the volunteers who made it all happen and those who attended.

We already can't wait for next year's event.

Gift City Historical Items

The City of La Cañada Flintridge is proud to announce its receipt of three historical artifacts gifted by the La Cañada Unified School District (LCUSD). LCUSD partnered with the Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation this year to further support its mission to collect, preserve and share artifacts to appreciate and understand the City's diverse history.

The City is working with the Lanterman House to determine the best way to display the artifacts for the appreciation and enjoyment of La Cañada Flintridge residents and visitors. Learn more about the artifacts on the City's website.

Bear Safety Tips

The City of LCF partnered with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to provide a virtual presentation entitled “Living with Black Bears in Southern California."

The hour-long session was a refresher course on living in close proximity to bears. To view the recorded presentation, visit: https://bit.ly/3D1hBB0.

With an uptick in bear sightings, the City reminds residents of the following safety precautions:

  • Secure trash cans and never leave food (including pet food) outside
  • Remain alert and always be aware of your surroundings
  • Call 911 if you witness aggressive or dangerous bear behavior

To report a wildlife incident, visit https://apps.wildlife.ca.gov/wir. To learn more, visit CityOfLCF.org/bears.

Burglary Suppression Efforts

In collaboration with the Crescenta Valley Station (CVLASD), the City of La Cañada Flintridge will begin stepping up current burglary suppression efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.

Residents will notice an uptick in uniformed patrols throughout local neighborhoods where deputies will be looking for suspicious activities that may be linked to burglary crews. Additionally, in the coming weeks, the City and CVLASD will launch a public safety campaign via social media to provide residents with valuable tips on preventing and reporting crime.

Together, we can keep our community secure. To report any suspicious activity, please call the Crescenta Valley Station at (818) 248-3464. For emergencies, dial 911.
