Message from the New City Manager, Daniel Jordan!

Greetings City of La Cañada Flintridge residents,

As the City’s newly appointed city manager, I am thrilled to be back in this wonderful

community and organization. I am excited to meet you, to see you at community events, and

to collaborate as we work tirelessly to make La Cañada Flintridge the very best community it

can be.

As a lifelong area resident, I have deep roots in La Cañada Flintridge. I attended Saint Francis High School and previously served on the Board of Directors of a local school. My wife, Cynthia, and I have three sons and each of them has attended La Cañada schools. Moreover, this is now the third time I have worked for the City of La Cañada Flintridge.

I was first a Public Works Intern for one year in the early 1990s. After attending graduate school and working elsewhere in both the private and public sectors, I returned to LCF to become the City’s Director of Finance from 2008 to 2017. Most recently, I was the City Manager for the City of Duarte, and I now have the honor to serve this extraordinary community once again.

As your City Manager, I look forward to working with our City Council to carry out existing plans, bring new ideas and work in partnership with the community to preserve and enhance our City’s renowned quality of life. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. I am eager to get to work!

With Deep Gratitude,

Daniel Jordan, Ph.D.

FY 2023-24 Budget Adopted

At the June 20 meeting, the La Cañada Flintridge City Council adopted the Annual Budget & Financial Plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-24.

The City is in a strong financial position, evidenced by a $1,235,125 surplus of revenue over expenditures. Notably, the City’s General Fund, which supports essential community services, remained stable and experienced a 2.47% increase compared to estimates from FY 2022-23. This positive trend can be attributed to various factors such as sales tax, property tax and franchise fee revenues.

Pickleball Program Update

As of July 1, the YMCA Joint Pickleball Program expanded to Monday-Friday from 9 AM-1 PM at the YMCA (1930 Foothill Boulevard).

While a YMCA membership is not required to participate, reservations are required and can be made up to a week in advance. To register for free, LCF residents can bring a recent utility bill to the front desk. Players must bring their own equipment.

GIS System Update

LCF's Deputy Director Arabo Parseghian and Esri's Sales Manager Mike Sumich and Account Manager Jesse Gonzalez highlighted the new GIS CIP system at the 24th Annual Complete Streets & Technology Conference.

This fully integrated system provides transparent information on future capital improvement projects to the public. This includes overviews of City projects, zoning information, and the Citizen Problem Reporter function, a configuration of Crowdsource Reporter allowing residents to submit non-emergency capital improvement requests.

This collaboration with Esri to create state-of-the-art software is part of the City's initiative to leverage GIS to enhance capital improvement projects. To access the La Cañada Flintridge Geospatial Hub, visit: https://bit.ly/3PLoJZF
