Message from the City Manager, Daniel Jordan

Greetings City of La Cañada Flintridge residents,

As we embrace the vibrant spirit of patriotism this Memorial Day, we're thrilled to welcome the summer season with a variety of City events and important updates.

We encourage you to grab your hiking boots and explore the City's newest trail, the Sister Cities Friendship Path. Embracing cultural exchange, this trail is a testament to our global connections and something community members can enjoy for years to come.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to join us at this year's Fiesta Days to commemorate the sacrifice of our servicemen and women. From ceremonies to parades, there's something for everyone to pay tribute to our heroes. Let's honor our heroes, cherish our community and create memories that will last a lifetime.

As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via phone, email or by visiting City Hall.

With Deep Gratitude,

Daniel Jordan, Ph.D.

La Cañada Flintridge Announces New Sister Cities Trail

The City of La Cañada Flintridge is pleased to announce the completion of its approximately 1,600-foot-long Sister Cites Friendship Path, funded by the Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD).

The City found that the existing Descanso Trail entrance into Cherry Canyon was difficult for trail users to traverse due to its 15% slope, and identified an alternative route at a more manageable slope of approximately 8%. This new route has now been converted into an approximately 1,600-foot-long path and named Sister Cites Friendship Path in honor of the relationship with LCF’s sister city, Villanueva de la Cañada, Spain.

The Trails Council is currently working on a map for the trail. Once it is complete it will be shared on the City’s platforms. For more information on trails in La Cañada Flintridge, please visit LCFtrails.org.

From street closures to event schedules, parking locations and more, the webpage houses updates and links to announcements from the event host, LCF Chamber of Commerce.

The webpage also highlights the City-provided shuttle service that will transport attendees to and from the venues to ensure easy access to the festivities.

Housing: Entitlement Permits

Every year, the City prepares an Annual Report on the Housing Element — this report was reviewed during the March 19th City Council Meeting and submitted to the Governor's Office and Planning and Research and the State Department of Housing and Community Development by April 1.

The report will identify for calendar year 2023 submitted and approved Planning entitlements associated with housing, submitted and issued building permits, total number of housing units, all adopted housing programs and the actions that have been taken on each.
