Message from the City Manager, Daniel Jordan

Greetings City of La Cañada Flintridge residents,

Happy fall! While the weather may not indicate the change in season, our staff and County partners are gearing up for all the events and programs residents can participate in this fall.

Public safety is one of our top priorities in the City. Our partnership with the Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff Departments not only works to ensure LCF's safety but also offers opportunities to get involved and become familiar with our local law enforcement officials and first responders.

The local Neighborhood Watch Program, a service organized by our very own Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station, allows residents to play a vital role in protecting the City by working closely with their neighbors and the Sheriff's Department.

The upcoming Trunk or Treat and Movie Night is another opportunity for our residents to come together, meet local officers and celebrate Halloween.

We recognize public safety as a community effort and are thankful for our partnership with our residents and these two organizations.

As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via phone, email or by visiting City Hall.

With Deep Gratitude,

Daniel Jordan, Ph.D.

Housing Element Update

Underscoring its ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for housing development, the La Cañada Flintridge City Council approved amendments to the General Plan Land Use Element, Zoning Code, Zoning Map and Downtown Village Specific Plan as part of its implementation of the adopted 2021-2029 Housing Element.

The amendments allow for increased densities and identify additional sites where opportunities for housing are now encouraged. In adopting the various amendments, the City Council affirmed it's continuing commitment to comply with applicable laws and partner with the state to ensure housing opportunities are available to all.

Flock Camera Update

At the October 3 meeting, the LCF City Council approved a five-year contract with Flock Safety to renew the City's

54 flock safety camera licenses.

Flock cameras assist the Sheriff’s

Department in capturing suspects involved in crimes committed in La Cañada Flintridge and neighboring jurisdictions. The City’s current inventory of cameras licenses are set to expire, and a contract renewal is required to keep the cameras operational.

The Flock Safety cameras’ costs include one-time installation and an ongoing licensing cost for the devices.

Emergency Preparedness

Disasters can occur without warning, so it is important to have a plan in place in the event of an emergency.

Here are some steps to follow when creating a plan:

  1. Discuss evacuation, communication and shelter plans with your household
  2. Consider specific needs and responsibilities for those involved
  3. Practice the plan with members of your household
