Thanksgiving Day Run
The City and Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge invite you to attend the 31st Annual Thanksgiving Day Run & Food Drive on Thursday, November 28, at Olberz Park.
Foothill Boulevard, from Loma Vista Dr. to Gould Ave., will be closed to traffic for the entire duration of the run. This change prioritizes the safety of all involved parties.

Sales Tax Update
As of October 1, 2024, the new sales and use tax rates took effect, impacting LCF and other select cities and counties. These changes were approved in the March 2024 election.

Compost Giveaway Event
In partnership with Athens Services, the City of LCF will host a Compost Giveaway on Saturday, October 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at One Civic Center Drive.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own buckets (plastic bags and cardboard boxes are not allowed) to collect compost, with a 2-bucket limit in place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Shovels will be provided at the event, which will offer 20 tons of compost to the community. Access to the drive-thru queue will be available from Civic Center Drive, off Foothill Boulevard.

LCF and Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station Launches E-Bike Safety Campaign
In collaboration with the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station (CVLASD), the City of La Cañada Flintridge has ramped up its educational outreach and enforcement efforts to improve e-bike safety and ensure compliance with local laws.
The City has been actively sharing e-bike related social media posts aimed at educating the community, and CVLASD Deputies have increased enforcement of e-bike-related laws, focusing particularly on students commuting to and from school. Deputies will be vigilant for any illegal use of e-bikes and e-motorcycles.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following the City’s and CVLASD’s official social media channels for the latest updates, e-bike laws and safety tips.

Meet Senior Management Analyst Jeannette Klein!
As a Senior Management Analyst in the Public Works Department, Jeannette manages transportation and solid waste programs, as well as the City’s transition to the Clean Power Alliance.
Jeannette began working for the City in 2023, drawing on her familiarity with the community from her upbringing in La Cañada Flintridge.
Prior to her position with the City, she worked at LA Metro and contributed to her family’s business.

The Public Works Department oversees the City’s public works programs, including capital improvement projects and provides engineering services. It designs and reviews plans for facilities within street rights-of-way, including private developments and City property. The Department prepares plans and specifications for streets, sidewalks, sewers, parks, medians and signage. It also manages contracts for street cleaning, storm drain maintenance and repairs to streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, as well as maintaining City-owned parkways and medians. | |

Neighborhood Watch
In partnership with the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, the City of LCF offers a Neighborhood Watch Program.
Led by City's Community Liaison Officer and former Los Angeles County Deputy Eric Matejka and Los Angeles County Special Assignment Deputy Ashween Nand, this program aims to achieve safe and secure neighborhoods through proactive education, communication and action. This program also trains neighborhood watch groups.

Public Safety Rebates
The City of La Cañada Flintridge encourages residents AND business owners to safeguard their homes and businesses. The following rebate programs provide an opportunity to protect your home/business and save money.

The Security and Alarm System Rebate offers a one-time rebate of up to $250 for purchasing a home security and alarm system. Please note that a qualifying alarm system must monitor all major entry points and trigger alarms when unauthorized entry to the interior of the building occurs.

The Security Camera Rebate offers a one-time rebate of up to a $100 rebate for purchasing a security camera only.

As we approach the rainy season, it's important to stay prepared and protect your home from potential flooding. The City of La Cañada Flintridge offers 24-hour access to sand and sandbags at the following locations:

Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween is just around the corner, and the City of La Cañada Flintridge encourages everyone to keep safety a priority. Follow these helpful tips to enjoy a safe and festive holiday:
- Carry glow sticks, flashlights or add reflective tape to costumes for visibility at night
- Always trick-or-treat with family or friends and avoid going alone
- Ensure decorations or other items do not block exits in homes or haunted houses

Burglary Prevention
The City of La Cañada Flintridge and Captain Hahnlein from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department remind residents of the following home burglary prevention tips:
- Install dead-bolt locks on all exterior doors
- Keep all doors and windows locked, double-check second-floor windows
- Leave outside lights on after dark or have outdoor lights controlled by a motion sensor
- Ask neighbors to watch your home while you're away and report any suspicious activity
- Notify CVSD when you are away and request "Vacation Patrol Checks" for your home

E-bike Safety
What is a Class 1 E-Bike?
A Class 1 e-bike is equipped with pedals and a motor that only provides assistance when the rider is pedaling. The motor stops providing assistance once the bike reaches 20 mph. Additionally, the electric motor must have a power limit of 750 watts or less.
Rules & Regulations for Class 1 e-bikes in California:
- No age restriction to ride a Class 1 e-bike.
- Riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet.
- No driver’s license or registration is needed.
Want to know where to find out what class of e-bike you have? Look for a label on your e-bike’s frame! The label should indicate its classification, top assisted speed and motor wattage.

Berkshire Place Bridge over Flint Canyon Channel (CIP 31-1803): The project consists of the upgrade of concrete approach barriers and guard rails. On May 7, 2024, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Voltaire Engineering. Construction started on August 5, 2024, and was substantially completed and open to traffic on September 3, 2024, ahead of the original completion date of October 9, 2024.
Foothill Boulevard Median Landscaping – (CIP 31-2305): The project consists of landscaping three (3) medians recently constructed as part of the Foothill Boulevard Link Project. The City executed a Task Order with Onward Engineering, one of the City’s On-Call Engineering Consultants, for the preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for the project. The project was advertised for construction bids on August 1, 2025, and bids were received on August 29, 2024. The City Council awarded a construction contract at their meeting on September 17, 2024. Construction is expected to start in January 2025.
