ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP

ALWAYS THE PRIMARY MISSION

The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”.

Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

LCM APRIL 2026 FIELD REPORT

April was a month marked by intense humanitarian needs, deep community grief, and meaningful ministry engagement. Life for Children responded across three major areas: flood relief, bereavement support, and spiritual fellowship, while also ensuring a smooth return to school for the children under care.

Flood Relief Efforts

Severe flooding in Kisumu, Homabay, Nyalenda, Ombei, and Ahero destroyed homes, small businesses, and farms—leaving many families without income or food. Life for Children provided emergency food supplies including maize flour, sugar, baking flour, cooking oil, and other essentials. Guardians expressed deep gratitude, as the support came at a time when many could not afford even a single meal. The ministry continues to appeal for additional assistance, as many families remain in urgent need.

Bereavement Support

The ministry walked closely with the family of Jane Kwamboka, who lost her mother, Mama Carolyne Achieng. Life for Children staff provided emotional, spiritual, and financial support from the time of hospitalization through the burial. Jane received compassionate care and counseling, and she showed emotional stability during the process. Special appreciation was extended to JCC Church, Pastor Sophy, and Madam Fredah for their prayers, counseling, and provision of clothing for Jane. The local chief publicly thanked Life for Children for restoring dignity and comfort to the grieving family.

Fellowship Meetings

Two fellowship gatherings were held—one in Nyalenda and one in Ombei. Attendance and spiritual engagement continue to grow. Guardians proposed forming a welfare group to support one another during crises such as bereavement. Members agreed to contribute Ksh 200 initially and Ksh 50 monthly to establish a welfare kitty. The ministry encouraged them to proceed and appoint leaders to manage the fund.

Back to School

Over 30 children were transported back to St. Anthony Wachara after the school break. The journey was joyful, filled with singing and storytelling. Staff observed significant growth in the children’s confidence, communication, and self‑esteem—especially those who were once shy or withdrawn. Despite poor road conditions and heavy rains, the team traveled safely.
