Our next Legislative Committee Meeting is

Greetings!

Our next regular LCM will be held Monday, January 11th from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. Please plan to attend via Zoom. We will have two guests at the meeting:

  • 9:30AM – 10:00AM Bruce Eisenhauer of the Department of Local Affairs will present and discuss DOLA’s 2021 legislative priorities
  • 10:00AM – 10:30AM Kevin Neimond of the Department of Human Services will present and discuss CDHS’s 2021 legislative priorities
  • Rich Mauro will provide brief updates/status reports on CSL and other legislation of interest to us as time allows

Below we have an update from Governor Polis on the COVID Response, along with information on upcoming CSL events.

On Wednesday, January 27th we are hosting Chris Farrell, author of "Purpose & A Paycheck." Chris will walk our attendees through those expanding possibilities for the “next” phase of life. Is it time to retire the word “Retirement”? Join us and find out.

Then February 8 – 10th, join us for Older Coloradans Week 2021. Our theme is "Reimagining Advocacy in a Virtual World." The week will feature five webinars over three-days.

Reimagining Advocacy in a Virtual World
Featuring Five Webinars over Three-Days
Partnering organizations serving older adults in Colorado are joining together to celebrate older adults the week of February 8th as Older Coloradans Week in Colorado! We will have five webinars over three-days that explore lawmaking and citizen advocacy in 2021, issues impacting older Coloradans in diversified communities, Colorado - specific statistics on needs of older workers, and our fifth webinar is a review of the week’s takeaways and a call to action. You will also learn more about two new organizations, AgeWise Colorado and Colorado Center for Aging. This is a free but donation-based week of virtual events that connects Older Coloradans, community leaders, advocates and aging network service providers with public officials. Our partner organizations include Aging2.0, Changing the Narrative, Colorado Senior Lobby and CU Multidisciplinary Center on Aging. We welcome more partnering agencies! 2021 Colorado Health Cabinet Policy Summit

Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera, Executive Directors of the Governor's Health Cabinet, and industry leaders will discuss the Polis-Primavera Administration's priorities for the 2021 legislative session as well as best practices to address health care industry challenges and opportunities. This event is free to attend but registration is required.

Tuesday Training at 2: Vaccination Workshop
Presented by the Colorado Assisted Living Association, this is an overview of what the full roll out of the vaccine looks like for assisted living residences across Colorado and how the progress is going with getting vaccines available across the state. The speaker is Gregory J. Gahm, MD. He is the geriatrician serving as the Corporate Medical Director for Vivage and medical director for several of Vivage's skilled nursing facilities.

Direct Care Workforce Collaborative Meeting
The Direct Care Workforce Collaborative is a stakeholder-led group with support from the interagency Direct Care Workforce Group. The purpose of this group is to identify priority issues affecting the workforce and to implement strategies that support their priorities, raise awareness, and ultimately stabilize the direct care workforce. Next group meeting is Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Emotional and Mental Health in Older Adults
