FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

November 12, 2021

Greetings “Tiger” Students and Families,

I hope you enjoyed Veterans Day and had opportunities to spend time with family or friends and enjoy your day and the opportunities we have to as a community and country. With so much taking place and the effort made by many to help things “settle” and get back to a more “normal” environment for all of us, I am aware of the frustrations and toil that this pandemic has created. I encourage our staff, students, and families to take “one day at a time” and try to give your “best effort” each day. Focus on what we can control. With that said, I have a few items that I and we could use your support with as partners with us.

  • We will be implementing a new tardy policy and procedure starting on Monday November 15, 2021.
  • Students will report directly to class if they are an “unexcused” tardy, and if the student in more than 10 minutes tardy, it will be recorded in attendance as an “unexcused absence.” If the student is less than 10 minutes tardy, it will be recorded in attendance as an “unexcused tardy.”
  • Students who are an “excused” tardy, meaning they have a note from a parent or guardian, or the parent or guardian has called in to the attendance office to excuse the tardy, then the student will report to the attendance office for an “excused tardy” pass.
  • Yes, your student could be considered an “unexcused” absent student for being more than 10 minutes late, if unexcused, and for missing the entire class period or day, if not excused by a parent or guardian.

One of our top priorities is for students to be in class, on time, for the full time, ready to engage in their learning. Your support with this is always appreciated, and I am open to ideas and suggestions you may have as well. This is valuable work, and we cannot do this without you.

Continue to encourage your student to wear their mask while in the building and cover their entire nose and mouth. This helps keep us all safe and in school. We will keep working hard to assure safety for everyone! Enjoy your weekend, and please reach out if you have any questions at [email protected] or (509) 354- 6890.

Enjoying serving as your principal,

Mr. Corley

PARKING.png

Student and Parent/Visitor Parking

Parent/Visitor Parking: LC does not have designated visitor parking, so you can park at any of the metered spots across the street. For after-hours events, you can park for free in any of the parking lots under the freeway. The doors to the Commons building are handicap accessible.

Student Drop-off/Pick-Up: Before and after school, 4th Avenue in front of LC is a busy place with school buses and parents competing for limited space. In order to help alleviate congestion, we recommend that parents drop off and pick up students either on 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue or a block east or west of LC on 4th Avenue. It is important to not park (even for a drop off) in the bus zones.

Student Parking: LC students can park in the two freeway lots (in front of the Field House and in front of the church to the east). Be sure to display your student parking permit to avoid getting a ticket in the student lots. Student parking permits can be purchased in the Business Office for $5. The lot directly in front of the main building and the parking garage are only for LC staff and are monitored for cars without staff permits.
