Tickets are now on sale for Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale at Lincoln Community Playhouse. Performances are March 4-6 and 11-13 with curtain at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. All tickets are $15.00 and may be reserved at lincolnplayhouse.com or by calling the box office between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is also a free will offering performance on March 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale follows daughters Nyasha and Manyara as they journey through a mystical jungle to be presented to the king. Along the way, the girls encounter a number of extraordinary situations designed to test their kindness, compassion and strength of spirit. Told with authentic African drumming, colorful staging, and powerful choreography, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters unmasks the true meaning of beauty and celebrates the mystery and splendor of the African continent.

The cast includes Zoie Doxon, Eva Nelson, Marie Barrett, Jane Delfosse, Ambi Anuh-Ndumu, Jaidah Boko, Eva Grasmick-Compaore, Georgia-Kate Delfosse, Sebrina Nazaire, Anna Mitchell, and Zach Johannes. Kaedyn Campbell directs with Crystal M. Dunning as music director, Danielle Noonan as choreographer, and Myeisha Essex as stage manager.

Joseph Auditions February 21-22
Lincoln Community Playhouse will hold auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on February 21st and 22nd beginning at 6:00 p.m. for youth and 7:00 p.m. for adults. Interested actors should sign up for a one-hour audition slot at the link below. Callbacks, if needed, will be held February 23rd.

Roles are available for adults ages 16 and up, and for a youth ensemble ages 10-12 years old with unchanged voices. Actors should bring a prepared song (32 measures) from a Broadway, pop, church, or school music. Please bring sheet music, an accompanist is provided. Auditions will include a dance portion and actors should wear clothes and shoes they can move in.

Performances are May 6-8, 12-15, 20-22. 

One of the most beloved – and colorful – musicals of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers, and the coat of many colors.
 
The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, including country-western, calypso, Elvis rock, and French ballads.

Morrie Enders will direct with Shauna Shaefer as music director, and Karen Freimund Wills as choreographer.
