June 11 - In 1919, Sir Barton won the Belmont Stakes, becoming the first horse to win the U.S. Triple Crown.
June 12 - In 1987, President Ronald Reagan, during a visit to the divided German city of Berlin, publicly challenged Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev to "tear down this wall."
June 13 - In 1966, the Supreme Court issued its landmark Miranda vs. Arizona decision, ruling that criminal suspects must be informed of their constitutional rights prior to questioning by police.
