December 2 - In 1954, the U.S. Senate voted to condemn Senator Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin for "conduct that tends to bring the Senate into dishonor and disrepute."

December 3 - In 1984, more than 4,000 people died after a cloud of gas escaped from a pesticide plant operated by a Union Carbide subsidiary in Bhopal, India.
December 4 - In 1945, the Senate approved United States participation in the United Nations
December 5 - In 1931, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow was destroyed on orders from Joseph Stalin.
December 6 - In 1923, a presidential address was broadcast on radio for the first time as President Calvin Coolidge spoke to a joint session of Congress.
December 7 - In 1941, Japanese warplanes attacked the home base of the United States Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, an act that led to America's entry into World War II.
