BATON ROUGE, La. – Today, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF), and the Associated Builders and Contractors – Pelican Chapter (ABC) announced the 2025 recipients of the Jump Start Construction Connect Scholars program.
Established in 2020, the program is the state’s first and only scholarship dedicated exclusively to Jump Start graduates who earn both a Jump Start credential and a Louisiana high school diploma, and who subsequently enroll in an LCTCS construction pathway program or an ABC training program in the summer or fall immediately following graduation. Since its inception, the program has awarded $1,000 scholarships to more than 140 students across Louisiana—and with 28 recipients, 2025 marks the largest cohort of scholars to date.
"The Louisiana Construction Education Foundation is pleased to present these scholarships in partnership with LDOE and LCTCS to these outstanding students who have chosen a career path in construction—a path with many varied opportunities," said Connie Fabre, president and CEO of LCEF. "Louisiana is growing, and these students will make a huge positive impact on the state’s future."
Each of the 28 recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue training in construction crafts that lead to high-wage, high-demand jobs across Louisiana.
Recipients were selected by the LCEF Board based on the strength of the industry credentials they earned in high school, letters of recommendation, participation in career and technical student organizations, and academic achievement.
"These scholarships not only recognize motivated students who’ve taken early steps toward careers in construction, but also invest in the talent that will build Louisiana’s future," said Dr. Chandler LeBoeuf, vice president of education for LCTCS. "As Louisiana’s largest provider of workforce training—and through partnerships like these—we are preparing the skilled professionals who will drive continued growth and economic development across the state."
"This scholarship is an investment in Louisiana's next generation of skilled workers," said Louisiana Department of Education Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ernise Singleton. "Workforce readiness is an important part of preparing our next generation of skilled workers for the future."
