LCUL is Your Resource for News, Information on COVID-19

In our continuing efforts to help Louisiana credit unions navigate the challenges of this pandemic, we have established a pandemic resources page, which contains regularly updated news and information, additional resources and guidance. Please take advantage of our COVID-19 resource page as we continue to update the information daily. 

Our COVID-19 listserv has been extremely active, providing helpful information for credit unions of all sizes. We are posting weekly summaries on our website with topics discussed and resources shared should credit unions need to refer back to the information.

In alignment with our active Pandemic Continuity Plan, LCUL staff continues to work remotely until further notice. We are prepared and committed to continuing to serve our credit unions with the exceptional level of service that you have come to expect from us without any interruption. We will continue to explore additional opportunities to collaborate on issues of common interest, to everyone's benefit.

NCUA: Grants Available to Help CUs Affected by Coronavirus
NCUA
NCUA is offering urgent needs grants to federally insured, low-income designated credit unions that experience unexpected costs related to the coronavirus.

According to a March 23 press release, the NCUA's Office of Credit Union Resources and Expansion may provide grants up to $7,500 to low-income credit unions for:
  • hardware, software or other equipment to help them provide financial products and services from remote locations;
  • consulting services to develop programs and partnerships to assist those affected by COVID-19, such as small businesses or schools; and
  • development of marketing materials to assure members their insured deposits are safe.

Credit Unions Asked to Report Operational Changes
We are asking all credit unions to report any changes to your services and operations, including branch/lobby closures, amended operating hours, and drive-thru services to sharedbranching@lcul.com. Even if your credit union is not part of the shared branching network, we ask that you still report this information to the above email address.

Training at Your Fingertips: LCUL Online Learning Opportunities
Just because we cannot gather together for training does not mean there's a lack of educational opportunities available to you.  In fact, there is an abundance for both professional staff and volunteers.

    • Two new webinar features added to help you in this trying time: Live webinars can now be viewed by up to 3 access points simultaneously and archives, which are shareable among your entire staff, are now distributed only two business days following the live version!

  • Dues Supported Training: Our CU Support team may not be able to travel but you can still be trained through our collection of FREE online trainings for staff and volunteers including BSA, Fair Lending, Security, Financial Literacy and the NCUA's Board of Director Video Series. Free Online Dues Supported Trainings

New to Compliance: Sample Telecommuting Policy
In light of current events regarding the coronavirus and many employees having to work away from the office, a Sample Telecommuting Policy was added to the Business Continuity Planning topic on LCUL's League InfoSight (member log-in required) in the Security Area, under Model Policies.  Please note that b efore implementation of a full-blown telecommuting policy, additional policy considerations would be necessary.
