LCUL Launches Statewide Financial Literacy Survey; CU Participation Strongly Encouraged
Yesterday, LCUL distributed a statewide financial literacy survey for Louisiana credit unions. Collecting this information will allow us to show legislators and community leaders the extent to which credit unions advance financial literacy and decision-making. Survey responses will be a sustainable source of data and statistics that will provide us with fuel for public awareness, advocacy, and related outreach efforts.

It is vital that we have strong participation in this survey, which is broken down into three separate parts: adult/youth financial literacy initiatives and serving the underbanked. Please have a credit union representative complete this survey by Wednesday, October 3. Additionally, data and information gathered will be accessible to affiliated credit unions.

For more information or for access to the survey, please contact Lacey Weaver, Senior VP of Member Engagement.
Learn How LCUL's Prized Linked Savings Program is Changing Lives in Louisiana
As LCUL prepares to open enrollment for our Louisiana-specific prized linked savings program on October 1, we want to take the opportunity to educate credit unions on the the program, how it supports the credit union mission, and the successes Louisiana credit unions have had this past year.

To date, credit union members with Lucky Lagniappe Savings Accounts have collectively saved over $200,000 (in just 7 months!) This speaks volumes when it comes time to promote the credit union difference and the impact we make.

Join us for a webinar on Tuesday, September 25 at 10:00 am to learn more about the program and hear about the overwhelming success credit unions have experienced from implementations to celebrations. Credit unions can register simply by emailing LCUL's communications department.

  • After you receive your participation packet, use the materials to get the word out to your staff and encourage them to participate.
  • Share your story by letting members, local businesses and your communities know about your participation before, during, and after the event.
Additionally, LCUL will once again award credit unions for their participation by asset size so don't forget to submit your totals!

Registration Now Open: Help CU Staff Understand Key Ratios
November 7, New Orleans

Interpreting ratio's in general can seem challenging to those who work with them on a regular basis, but for those professionals who work with them infrequently they can seem downright daunting.

We are excited to bring Tim Gardner to the New Orleans area to help de-mystify the five most utilized industry ratios that can help everyone on your staff to better understand your credit union's profitability, productivity and efficiency.

Have you ever found yourself wondering "What does that number really mean?"  or "Is our ultimate goal for that number to eventually increase or decrease?" then wonder no more.  Although there are literally dozens of ratios in use in the financial industry, Tim will focus on five to help you understand the story your credit union is telling.
  • Return on Assets
  • Net Worth to Total Assets
  • Loans to Share
  • Net Interest Margin
  • Efficiency Ratio
Tim Garner has been helping SRCUS CUNA Management School students make sense of ratios and financial analysis for well over ten years and he is excited to come to Louisiana to share his enthusiasm for uncovering the story in the numbers.
