LCUL Facilitating GSTV Advertising Campaign During ICU Week
LCUL will once again raise awareness during International Credit Union Week with a statewide advertising campaign through Gas Station TV.  As of today, the campaign will reach more than 210 GSTV locations in every corner of the state-for an estimated 565,000 impressions. (We expect that to be even higher come October!)

Throughout the week, GSTV will often air a short commercial that reminds millions of people that credit unions assist members in life's major financial decisions. The ad will include the URL for the asmarterchoice.org website, where potential members can find a credit union in Louisiana they are eligible to join. This year, we will add a :15 CUNA "Open your Eyes" video that is currently in production.

GSTV is a highly effective digital video network that allows brands to connect with on-the-go, captive consumers at the gas pump. Approximately 88 percent of viewers report that they enjoy watching GSTV, and the high engagement with viewers delivers twice the ad recall of traditional media. Additionally, 41 percent of GSTV viewers are millennials, which is significantly higher than the millennial reach of traditional TV.

International Credit Union Week will be held Oct. 15-19. The League will be announcing additional ICU Week initiatives in the days ahead. Contact the League's Communications Department for more information.

Compliance Spotlight: NCUA Examiner Focus - Letter to Credit Unions
NCUA issued Supervisory Letter (SL No. 18-01) to address credit unions' compliance with the new BSA Customer Due Diligence and Beneficial Ownership Rules. NCUA states that once the BSA Questionnaire and Consumer Compliance Violations citations have been added to AIRES, which is expected next month (September 2018), field staff will begin evaluating credit unions' compliance with the new CDD rules.

However, the agency notes that, for now, field staff will not identify non-compliance as a significant BSA violation, provided the credit union is making a good faith effort to comply with the new rules.

With this Supervisory Letter, the agency included the updated Customer Due Diligence section from the FFIEC BSA Examination Manual, as well as the new section: Beneficial Ownership Requirement for Legal Entity Customers. Click here to read SL No. 18-01.

Section 705 FCU Celebrates 50 Years of Service to Members
Section 705 FCU is celebrating 50 years of operation and service to members. Section 705 was originally founded in 1968 by a group of postal employees in the 705 ZIP Code area who sought to fill a void in their financial needs. These individuals chose to charter the credit union as an employee benefit for USPS employees. Since its inception, the credit union has gone on to add several companies to the field of membership including: various government employees and local businesses within Acadiana.

To celebrate this milestone, Section 705 FCU has had festivities throughout the year including: a golden anniversary logo, monthly member drawings, Membership Appreciation and Annual Meeting, and a week-long birthday celebration. As the credit union looks to the future, the goal remains the same to continue to serve the financial needs of Acadiana.

Anna Suire, Section 705 FCU CEO, describes the excitement by stating, "I have been with the credit union for 28 years. The progress made at Section 705 within my tenure brings me great pride. When I first started as CEO, there were a total of 3 employees that worked at the credit union with 5.5 million in assets. Today, the credit union has 10 employees and is 33 million in assets!"

CSE Earns Web Accessibility Certification for CSEFCU.ORG
CSE FCU recently completed a three-phase accessibility certification process for its official website (csefcu.org) through AudioEye, a third-party provider of web accessibility testing and monitoring.

In an effort to provide a fully accessible and optimized user experience for all its website visitors, CSE has taken careful measure to ensure an excellent user experience, regardless of assistive technology being used to access csefcu.org or the specific abilities of those individuals seeking access to csefcu.org, leveraging the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 as reference. These globally recognized best practices are recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an international community that develops open standards to ensure the long-term growth of the Web.

Csefcu.org will continue to be monitored and tested regularly by internal resources and by AudioEye. As new solutions are discovered to improve the user experience, remediation is tracked and fixes are implemented to improve the website user experience for all.
