Rep. Mike Sturla and Rep. Ismail Smith Wade-El's 13th Annual Back to School Event | |
On Sunday, August 18th, families, students, community members from Lancaster, Manheim Township, Hempfield and Penn Manor were brought together for a day of preparation, support, and celebration as the new academic year approaches.
As a beloved annual tradition in Lancaster, the Back to School event equipped students with essential resources. Featuring activities such as school supply giveaways, free haircuts, health screenings, and informational booths, the event provided families with everything they needed to prepare their children for the new school year.

Attending the event alongside PA CareerLink® Lancaster County, the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board showcased one of our key initiatives—Career Ready Lancaster! (CRL!).
As part of our commitment to building a stronger, more skilled workforce for the county, CRL! connects local businesses and educators to create innovative and diverse career exploration opportunities for students from elementary through postsecondary levels, helping them discover and pursue their passions. Additionally, CRL! offers mentorship and internship opportunities for college students and adults, providing them with guidance and valuable experience as they embark on their careers.
Parents and children who visited our booth enjoyed the activities and left with valuable information and resources for both themselves and their children. It was exciting to see parents take an interest in learning more about our programs. We look forward to participating in this amazing event again next year.
