FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LDCC, NE Delta HSA Work Toward
Holistic Solutions

Louisiana Delta Community College's (LDCC) objective is to provide a brighter financial road for anyone who desires access. A "community" college existing to support citizens and local businesses and industry, LDCC helps prepare citizens with skill development for workforce demands.

LDCC recognizes for some citizens the desire to succeed lies buried beneath some very real challenges. LDCC has an opportunity to more strategically annihilate the challenges of employment, healthy self-image, and mental and physical poverty in our northeast Louisiana corridor. They also recognize the solutions, just like the challenges, are multi-faceted. Answers require a community of services and assistance.

Because of this, Louisiana Delta Community College is thrilled to partner with Northeast Delta Human Services Authority, whose expertise addresses the mental health issues prohibiting the possibility of citizens realizing success.

"At Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NE Delta HSA) , we recognize that human development goes hand-in-hand with workforce development," said Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, NE Delta HSA Executive Director. "For our region to become more economically viable and to attract, retain and grow businesses within our area, our citizens must be mentally, physically and spiritually healthy. Strengthening these critical elements of our nationally-recognized, integrated behavioral and primary care model will build a more robust health and human services infrastructure," said Dr. Sizer. "Combined with traditional business recruitment efforts, we believe this approach can help reduce recruitment barriers and attract more businesses to northeast Louisiana."

LDCC's first outreach within this partnership is in the form of a career fair, scheduled for December 13, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Harvey Benoit Recreation Center. Programs will be shared that target those in need of high school credentials, to those who are looking for "ready to work" skill development, to those who desire to ultimately go on to university life.  CenturyLink and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce will also be on hand to visit with attendees.

"We are passionate about helping catalyze a stronger northeast Louisiana where people are thriving and can reach their full human potential," said Dr. Sizer. "The Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) Career Fair is consistent with our primary mission of helping our mental health, developmental disability, and addictive disorder clients become more self-sufficient. This event also supports our Opportunity Zone initiative in south Monroe, which aims to transform communities with even greater access to educational opportunities and jobs. We are so pleased to join LDCC, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and CenturyLink in support of this Career Fair."

Dennis Epps, Acting Chancellor for Louisiana Delta Community College is a very strong advocate for the College to host many more activities of this nature "within" our communities. "LDCC is tremendously excited about plans for our upcoming career fair.  This opportunity will lead to strengthening our outreach efforts to inform citizens of key workforce and job training opportunities and represents a strong alliance with the community and with key allies striving for the betterment of our citizenry.  We fully recognize the value of strategic efforts and holistic efforts in enhancing the quality of life for the citizenry served and this opportunity represents the very best of teamwork and collaboration," expresses Epps.

This career fair is the first of many joint efforts to usher in, what we hope, is a long list of successes for the communities we serve.
