Who wouldn't appreciate free food and milk products, meat and dry goods? I am a single senior who has definitely felt the impact of Covid, a financial recession, soaring costs in gas, food and rent. Having a safe and generous source for fresh food, and many extras has a profound influence on my lifestyle. It is not just the food, although that certainly makes a difference. It is also the atmosphere. What I mean is that it is a bit tough to be on the receiving end when you have always been able to both take care of your own needs and participate in helping with the needs of others. The Market has evolved into a community and the participants, both givers and receivers, actually enjoy meeting and greeting and sharing each week. We have learned about each other in very specific ways because each person has a story to tell. It is often lonely being poor and sharing with others is just great. It is important to mention the teams of dedicated volunteers who serve from the different churches.
