Demo Day ceremony marks start of renovation at Ray-Pec LEAD Center

On Dec. 2, the School District had a “demo-day” groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for the LEAD Center.

A group of students in the Ray-Pec High School Enterprise & Design program planned the ceremony, which included hitting a wall with sledgehammers to kick off construction and renovation at the site.

The LEAD Center is located at M-58 and Foxridge Drive in Raymore. LEAD stands for Learning, Experiences, And Discovery.

The school district purchased the building in February 2021 to provide additional opportunities in the area of career oriented education and real world learning experiences. The facility, which has about 41,000 square feet, had been vacant for several years.

The district’s machining program, currently located on the main Ray-Pec campus, will move to the LEAD Center for the 2022-2023 school year. The Ray-Pec Enterprise & Design program will also relocate to the LEAD Center. Other programs planned for location next year at the site include electrical studies, a future teachers program, and co-location with a business. Important calendar information!

Friday, Dec. 17 - All schools will dismiss early for the Winter Break.
Grades 9-12: 11:46 a.m.
Middle Schools: 11:50 a.m.
Elementary Schools: 1:05 p.m.
Shull Early Learning Center: 1:30 p.m.
Dec. 20-31 - School is not in session Dec. 20 through Dec. 31.
Monday, Jan. 3 - Classes resume.

Second semester calendar changes

In an effort to provide more planning and collaboration time for staff, the Board of Education recently approved changes to the second semester calendar. These three school days will now be teacher/staff work days.

Students will not attend school (in-person or virtual) on these three dates:

Friday, Jan. 28
Friday, March 11
Friday, May 6

Child care opportunities will be available for those who may need them. More information about this will be available in January.

RPHS applications for off-site programs for 2022-2023

Applications for Cass Career Center (CCC), Summit Technology Academy (STA), Southland CAPS (SCAPS), and the LEAD Center are now available for high school students for the 2022-2023 school year. Each program offers career-oriented education in specific areas of interest. #aschoolofchoiceRP

APPLICATION DEADLINE: All off-site applications must be submitted by Feb. 4, 2022. Any application turned in after this date will be automatically placed on a waiting list.

Your kid counts!

The Ray-Pec School District is offering child developmental screenings on Jan. 14 at Shull Early Learning Center. Screening times are available for children ages 6 months to 5 years old.

Parent educators will conduct the screenings, which will include fun activities in the areas of motor, communication, problem solving, social emotional, and early learning skills. You will also have the opportunity to consult with behavior specialists for parenting strategies and connect with community resources.
