22 Ways to Lead in 2022

Leadership begins with love, and it starts with self-leadership. It comes to life when you invest in a series of small tweaks to master decisions that reset, drive, and transition your business and your life anew in ’22. Resist the need to choose a word of the year or a single goal and opt instead for a defining essence or unique aura that intwines and interconnects all aspects of leading your life. A whole-life approach to leadership supports you in accurately aligning and managing a series of inter-related, and in-the-moment connections between setting your goals and getting your goals. The results? Staying accountable and in choice on managing the process and flow of successfully navigating a life and a business that you love.

Begin each day with this thought…

What can I lead in the next 24-hours?

What decisions can I make right now?

Let go of how you will do so and step into the actions and results you are seeking. If you get clear on what you want, how you will get it will make itself known. It is in the space of “how” that many of us get lost because “how” is where fear resides, and excuses are born. Your decision to lead you, if clear and direct, will support you in not only setting your goals and dreams, but in achieving them. Stay true to why you want what you want and then make decisions that support that every day.

Here are 22 ways to lead in 2022:

Be in the room. Use all your senses. Tap into how you feel. The more aware that you are, the more energy you channel for yourself and others. Your listening skills ignite. Your possibilities expand. Start from right now.

Re-establish your values. Your childhood compass may no longer be serving you decades later. Access what is important in real time and then step boldly into honoring that daily.

Reboot your boundaries. Think rule book ’22. Create an in and out list for work and for play and put it in motion. Ask yourself, “Is this decision or action getting me closer or further away from a life that I love?” Then act based on your response.

Decide. Decide. Decide.

Innovate. Try one new thing each day in your business and one new thing each day in your personal life. This will support you in staying in motion and in exploring change and renewal.

Master memorable. Make 2022 the year that you leave situations and people better than you found them. Your legacy is something you get to engineer. Picture yourself with a blank canvas and paints. What will you create?

Practice more peace. Peace is an inside attitude adjustment that elevates energy and permits more positive and authentic interactions. Leading with peace is managing with solutions from the perspective of what is possible. Practicing peace establishes you firmly in today, erasing self-sabotage, anger, fear, and discord.

Limit LESS. It is common to put restrictions on yourself, managing from a scarcity mindset and letting fear and indecision rob you of opportunities. When you limit LESS, you become more organically abundant, and in the process, you elevate and expand your energy, your creativity, and your overall growth. When you limit LESS you DO more. Replace “I am sorry” with “thank you.” Then watch your abundance soar.

Reverse engineer choice. Create a do-not-do-this list to coincide with your to-do list to keep action steps meaningful, accountable, and aligned with your time and your goals. Honor no.

Create an anti-bucket list. Before you create or update your list of the things you hope to do someday, focus instead on the things you have already accomplished. Spending too much time on what you did not yet do disempowers your daily successes. Create a success inventory of all your 2021 wins and work from there!

Find the gray. Instead of choosing between this AND that, broaden your selection process and empower this AND that. Not everything is vivid in black and white, so find the area in-between. This is especially helpful when you feel triggered by excuses or your inner critic. Write down the worst thing that could happen. Then write down the best thing that could happen. Intersect them. That mid-point is your starting point. Add color and fuel it forward.

Celebrate what you GET to do. Steer your action steps from the vantage point of what is possible. An abundant outlook erases fears and resets opportunities. If stuck ask yourself, “What do I get to do?” Then choose.

Channel your inner voice. Start the year off with a heightened awareness. What whispers are you hearing and what whispers are you missing? Do at least one thing each day based on intuition. Believe.

Schedule and lead your goals. Once you have created your vision board, documented your business plan, or created your wish list, get busy marrying each to your commitment to their success. You don’t just want to set them; you want to get them. Keep your top goals right next to your computer and calendar and make sure that your goals and your to-do mirror and echo each other daily. If you are not leading your goals, they are leading you.

Recalibrate don’t quit. Instead of giving up on your job, opting out of a relationship, or abandoning your agenda, rework what is next based on former successes, solid skill sets, and your ability to meet the moment. Change is not a do-over, it is an add-on.

Fact-check. Find your truth because facts erode fear, poke holes in places you are stuck, and create clarity as to next steps and possibilities.

Stay in the conversation. Goals, relationships, ideas, and dreams are all meant to be built upon and expand. Challenge yourself to stay in the conversation with those in your network, with new ideas, and with yourself.

Put your “self” back into self-esteem. How you view and interactive with the world starts with the care and nurturing of the business of YOU. Picture yourself at the center of your day. What is your value-add? Start your day documenting 3 things you appreciate about yourself. At the end of the day recap with 3 ways you made a difference in the past 24-hours.

Practice. Even experts need to try things on and work things out. Leading from a place of curiosity rather than perfection will support you in accomplishing personal and professional growth and make the journey more engaging.

Rupture your routine. Do one thing differently every day. This does not have to be something new; it just needs to lose its old rigidity. When you tinker with the idea of how things have always been done before, you allow in choice and change. This is a starting point for new habits.

Reset mindset. Think snow globe and shake things up! A snow globe left alone is just a glass ball with a scene inside of it. You need to shake it for the magic to happen. If you are willing to do the same with your own point of view, you will create a habit of adding wonder, possibility, and a bit of sparkle to each day. What needs shaking up in your business or in your life?

Be Bold. Choice, change, and transition start when you do. No one else can be you and no one else can make the same decisions. Leverage what makes you unique and reveal it. Consistently. Daily. With gusto.
