A Note from our Executive Director

Dear Lori,

I was listening to Joan Baez sing Forever Young the other day and these lyrics resonated with me, “May you always do for others and let others do for you.” I think those lyrics exemplify what LEAP means to me, and what it means to be in community. We are a social service organization. We are always “doing for others.” For those of us in the helping professions, we get tremendous joy from, well, helping.

I am proud of all the ways we at LEAP help our community. We care for children. We wrap our arms around our families to support them in times of stress. We partner with our colleagues for the benefit of the community. Equally, we experience joy when we allow others to do for us.

At the LEAP Awards, I experienced a profound sense of well-being knowing that you are there to support us as well. Seeing your words of encouragement, your cheering on our honorees, your love means the world to all of us at LEAP.

LEAP is more than 50 years old. But, we will always do for others and let others do for us, and we will stay Forever Young.

Our LEAP Awards was a success!

Thanks to the generosity of our community we were able to raise $37,450 to support our programs, such as our free diaper bank, food distributions, and high-quality trauma-informed childcare.

We were proud to honor Katya Armistead and Kristen Miller, and share stories from Cottage Hospital doctor Dr.Fandino, Teacher Maria, and more with you.

We'll see you next year at our 2025 LEAP Awards!

Los Curanderos help the Diaper Bank!

Thank you to Los Curanderos from UC Santa Barbara for volunteering with us as diaper packers! They spent the morning packing hundreds of diapers for local community members in need.

Do you have a group that wants to volunteer with us? Send us an email at info@leapcentralcoast.org.

Classes, Webinars, and More from our FRC!

Did you know that our Family Resource Center (FRC) hosts a wide variety of virtual classes? We aim to strengthen our families by providing free virtual classes on requested topics – like Immigration, Parenting, Fire Safety Education, Financial Literacy, and much more!

We survey our clients regularly to decide which classes to hold- and the results are constantly changing. Be on the look out for new classes on LGBTQ+ education, nutrition, tenant's rights coming soon! If you'd like to see something different, send us a suggestion at info@leapcentralcoast.org
