Xcel Energy Starts Prescriptive Troffer Rebate Programs for Retrofits

and New Construction

October, 2014 - Xcel Energy now has prescriptive troffer rebates for 2x4 retrofits and new construction projects. This measure is for a one-for-one replacement of fluorescent technology to LED in interior spaces of commercial buildings and new construction buildings. The newly installed systems must be found on the Design Light Consortium's Qualified Product List. Only qualified new fixtures and retrofit kits that are replacing fluorescent systems will be eligible for rebate.

Rebates are as follows for qualified products:

New Construction: $30.00/rebate per fixture

Retrofit/Replacement: $50.00/rebate per fixture

With these rebates, the cost is neutral to switch to LED in new construction, and the decrease in operating costs is up to 70% less over existing systems.
