Ahoy Captain,
Well, my fellow Captains, we have made another full revolution around our sun.
What a January we had. Snow the likes we haven’t seen for a while. Below zero wind-chills for days in a row. Wildfires in the west. And let’s not forget our fellow North Carolinians and Tennesseans that are still recovering from the horrible floods. This fall and winter season has seen many strange weather events. Hopefully everyone has stayed safe.
Yes, the days are starting to get longer and here we are already into February.
Speaking of February, this is the second-year Anniversary of “The Hook”. I hope you continue to enjoy these quarterly newsletters and have found interesting articles and facts about our Great Lake Erie.
Launch dates are not too far away, and many of you may already have your first charter scheduled. It’s time for our boats to start coming out of their slumber and getting ready to meet those dates. Don’t forget to check all your safety gear, including expiration dates on the flares.
The 2025 Ohio Charter Captains Conference is coming up on March 1, 2025; don’t forget to register by February 21, 2025. See Tory Gabriel’s article below.
Start thinking about volunteering to help with the Water Sampling for Sea Grant Stone Lab. More information to follow.
I’ll be representing LECBA at the review for OSU Sea Grant Stone Lab with The National Sea Grant College Program and NOAA at The Ohio State University, February 11-13, 2025.
Can’t wait to see everyone on the water this spring.
Until then,
Tight lines and signing off.
Respectfully,
Captain Peg
