Indiana’s unemployment rate stands at 4.3 percent for December, and the national rate is 6.7 percent. The monthly unemployment rate is a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicator that reflects the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks as a percentage of the labor force.

DALE - Opponents of a proposed $2 billion coal-to-diesel facility in Spencer County are appealing a decision by the Indiana Office of Environmental Adjudication. Southwestern Indiana Citizens for Quality of Life and Valley Watch Inc. had previously sought to block an air permit for the project from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
The Center hosted the first-ever virtual Purdue Top Farmer Conference on January 8th. Nearly 500 registered for this year's conference, which featured Purdue's Jason Henderson discussing implications of the macroeconomic outlook for agriculture, Distinguished Purdue Professor Jayson Lusk outlining changing consumer behavior and what it means for U.S. agriculture, and Iowa State's Wendong Zhang providing an updated farmland outlook and future prospects for U.S.-China trade. The vaccination of Hoosiers against COVID-19 has begun. Any Hoosier age 70 and older is now eligible to schedule a vaccination appointment, as are long-term care residents, first responders (fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services and reservists) who have in-person contact with the public and licensed and unlicensed healthcare workers who have in-person contact with patients or infectious material in any healthcare setting.
