MAJORITY Grand Opening in Laredo

Gene Lindgren, Cesar Hernandez, Zaira Lopez, and Mario Maldonado of the LEDC and MileOne staff were invited to participate in the grand opening for MAJORITY, a global financial services company, as they expand their presence in North America from Miami to Laredo, Texas.

The LEDC and MileOne are proud to have supported the company’s evaluation of the Laredo market and provided site selection services which ultimately led to their downtown opening on Zaragoza Street, less than a block away from the non-commercial and pedestrian bridge with Nuevo Laredo. We look forward to their business success and continuing to support further expansions throughout the city.

Atlantic Council Roundtable and Reception Presentation

On September 12th, Laredo EDC President and CEO Gene Lindgren attended a private stakeholder meeting with Jason Marczak, Senior Director of the Atlantic Council along with several other business and government representatives in the community.

Discussions surrounding our region’s readiness for significant growth due to near-shoring and several opportunities for further improving our port’s competitiveness were communicated to the global advocacy group representatives.

The private event was followed by a dinner that included presentations by Mr. Marczak, Dr. Marco Gonzalez of Port Columbia Laredo, and a panel consisting of Gerry Schwebel of IBC, Monica Salinas, Javier Vasquez of CBP, and Glenn Hamer of Texas Association of Business.

The Atlantic Council concluded a study showing the binational economic impacts of reducing wait times for commercial freight along the U.S. – Mexico border, and this information can be used to help move the public policy needle related to infrastructure in Austin and Washington, D.C.
