LEDC President & CEO met with Mexican Sate of

Nuevo Leon Authorities

Gene Lindgren, LEDC President & CEO, and Yvette Sanchez, LEDC VP of International Business Recruitment, recently met with Dr. Marco Antonio Gonzalez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Department and General Director of the Corporation for the Development of the Border Zone of Nuevo Leon for State of Nuevo Leon at their Columbia Bridge offices. 


Dr. Gonzalez shared the exciting industrial and residential vision for the Columbia Port area along with other Nuevo Leon infrastructure initiatives and received an overview of the LEDC mission, vision, activities, community involvement, advocacy, and business intelligence. 


The LEDC looks forward to working closely with the State of Nuevo Leon on these developments and will have Dr. Gonzalez scheduled for a review at an upcoming LEDC business conversation for our membership.  

Networking Laredo Business Mixer

On December 1, the International Business Assitance Center MileOne and Laredo EDC participated in the 2nd Networking Laredo Business Mixer at The Rooftop.


The guest speaker during the event was Fernando Salido, owner of Domino's Pizza who share his expertise as a business owner.

9th Annual South Texas Transportation Conference

Gene Lindgren, LEDC President & CEO, along with Gerry Schwebel, IBC Executive Vice-President, attended the 9th Annual South Texas Transportation Conference in Victoria, TX. 


Speakers included local, state, and federal government officials, along with private sector leaders covering topics ranging from infrastructure updates on IH-69, autonomous transportation, and broadband. 


Keynote address was provided by Steve Schellenberg, Vice-President, IMS Worldwide Inc., on global trade perspectives with near-term and long-term impacts of COVID, nearshoring, demographic trends, and emerging e-commerce companies that will emerge as major players in the world economy.

Celebration of 200 years of U.S. - Mexico Relations

LEDC and MileOne were represented at the TAMIU-hosted event celebrating the bicentennial relationship between Mexico and the United States. 


Gene Lindgren, LEDC President & CEO, and Cesar Hernandez, MileOne Program Director, attended this momentous occasion where binational stakeholders were presented with sessions from both Mexico and United States Consul Generals, words from Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz and a representative from Nuevo Laredo Municipal President Carmen Lilia Canturosas, and an unveiling of a commemorative plaque marking this important milestone in our two country’s history.  

Laredo EDC Annual Tamalada & Membership Mixer

The Laredo EDC hosted its Annual Christmas Talamada and Membership Mixer on Tuesday, December 13 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton.   

 

During the event, Laredo EDC President and CEO Gene Lindgren presented to our members, partners, and invited guests an annual report of activities along with special recognition of the great work by the Administrative Division led by Chief Administrative Officer Yvette Peña and Administrative Support Specialist Ana Benavides. 

 

The event also included a presentation by Border Patrol Agents Ramsey De La Rosa, Arlo De Los Santos, and later joined by SBPA Tomas Carrillo, all part of the Laredo Sector Headquarters Combined Enforcement Unit. They presented valuable information about the “Texas Hold ‘Em” program, an initiative by the U.S. Border Patrol and the Texas Department of Public Safety, who joined in a multi-agency enforcement effort to improve border security to prevent drug and human smuggling.

City of Laredo Press Conference

Gene Lindgren, LEDC President and CEO, and Yvette Sanchez, VP of International Business Recruitment, attended the City of Laredo press conference with special guest Dr. Marco Antonio Gonzalez Valdez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development of the Government of Nuevo Leon and General Director for the Corporation for the Development of the Nuevo Laredo Border Zone. 


Dr. Gonzalez reviewed the infrastructure projects that are in construction in Nuevo Leon to support the impressive growth of the Columbia Bridge area and thanked the City of Laredo, the LEDC, and the private sector stakeholders for their support. 


The delegation was welcomed and congratulated by Mayor Pete Saenz, Council Members Alberto Torres and Melissa Cigarroa, Interim Economic Development Director Miriam Castillo, and Gerry Schwebel, IBC Executive Vice President. 


Mr. Lindgren also had a chance to speak at the podium to congratulate the Nuevo Laredo delegation on their vision and successes and also announce the Port of Laredo’s impressive trade figures for October where we landed at the #2 spot for the month beating out the Port of Los Angeles.   

MileOne 5th Anniversary

The International Business Assistance Center MileOne hosted an event to celebrate 5 years of supporting small business development and entrepreneurship in Laredo.


The event took place at the MileOne IBAC Facility on December 15. During the event a grant for $10,000 was presented by Susana Melendez-Valencia, PNC Bank's Regional President and Head of Commercial Banking for the Texas Border Market, and Jimmy Notzon, Sr. Vice President - Wealth Manager of South Texas Border Region - PNC Private Bank to support the Women Entrepreneur Rock Series.


Also, Tony Arce, Manager of Community of Community Affairs at AEP Texas presented a grant of $1,000 from Electric Transmission Texas (ETT).

LEDC Attends Congressional Honor for Outgoing Mayor Pete Saenz

Gene Lindgren, President & CEO attended a special recognition from Congressman Henry Cuellar for serving Laredo these past eight years. The LEDC wants to thank Mayor Saenz for his genuine leadership, support for our organization, and wishes him the best as he spends time with his family.  

Arguindegui Oil Co, II, Ltd. Acquires Sunoco Energy Services operating units in Texas and Oklahoma

December 30, 2022, Laredo, Texas – Arguindegui Oil Co, II, Ltd.
