Black Excellence at the
Historic Hampton House
Date: 02/25/2020
Remy Martin presented the launch of the Remy Renaissance series at the beautiful Historic Hampton House. During Black History Month the event’s focus was exploring and paying homage to the Historic Hampton House, black excellence and paying homage to historic preservation.
During the 1960s, the Hampton House was the place to see and be seen in Miami’s black community, due to Jim Crow’s segregation laws.

The theme was Miami ‘64. In 1964 Jim Brown, Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke and Malcolm X all got together, Ali had just fought in a boxing match against Sonny Liston. After defeating Liston, Ali chose to meet up with Brown, Malcolm X, and Sam Cook at a hotel in Miami called the Hampton House.

During this time America wasn’t very accepting of African-Americans or minorities at the time. Therefore, the four influential men chose to speak about ways to shape the world into a better place. Remy Martin toasted to the ability to tell our own narratives & be the keepers of our own stories. The Garner Circle PR produced this event.
